How to prepare your home for a fumigation visit

A fumigation treatment works best — and safest — when the house is prepared properly. This is the checklist we send every customer before a visit, whether the job is bed bugs in a bedsitter or cockroaches through a three-bedroom.

Before we arrive

• Clear floors where possible so treatment reaches skirting edges, corners and under furniture.
• Store or cover all food, utensils, kettles and open containers — inside cupboards is fine if doors stay closed.
• Arrange for children and pets to be away for the treatment and the stated re-entry period.
• For bed bug jobs: strip bedding and launder it hot if you can, and tell us which rooms are affected so we can plan coverage.
• Let us know about fish tanks, birds and anyone in the home with respiratory conditions — they change the plan.

During the treatment

The home needs to be empty of people and pets while we work. Treatment follows applicable safety and regulatory requirements, and before we leave we confirm your re-entry time in writing along with any ventilation steps.

After you return

• Ventilate as instructed — usually windows open for a set period on re-entry.
• Do not deep-clean treated surfaces immediately; many treatments keep working for days. A normal wipe of food-prep surfaces is fine.
• Expect to still see a few pests in the first days — treatment continues working after we leave. A sudden surge of visible insects in week two, however, is worth a call.
• Watch the treated areas and report anything unusual — honest follow-up is part of the service.

What it costs

Per job: bedsitter or single room Ksh 2,500, one-bedroom Ksh 4,000, two-bedroom Ksh 5,500, three-bedroom Ksh 7,500.
